Dr. William Caten - Principal

Dr. William Caten

Greetings TeamTJES,

I am so happy to be returning as the proud principal of Thomas Jefferson Elementary! Our motto, “We Believe, One Team, One Dream” keeps us focused in our mission to providing “every student with the keys to a successful future”.  We are proud of the many initiatives and activities that have been implemented this past school year. It is our goal to continue the strong tradition of providing a positive educational experience for each Patriot of Thomas Jefferson Elementary. We will continue our Responsive Classroom and Olweus Anti-Bullying Programs which help provide for a safe and cooperative learning environment. We are pleased to once again offer STEAM (science technology engineering arts & math) activities to every student through our Innovations Lab.

Reading continues to be a focus for us at Thomas Jefferson Elementary and ensuring our Patriots have access to a variety of books and reading material is important to us.  Through LCPS’ one-to-one technology initiative, staff continue to offer students access to online resources that challenge them with real world scenarios and issues. The staff at Thomas Jefferson Elementary takes great pride in providing a variety of activities during instructional times that ensure students get plenty of practice as they navigate the 5-C’s (creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, & citizenship) in creating a community of active, empathetic, and successful learners.

We Believe, One Team, One Dream

Mr. Jesse Cleaver - Assistant Principal

Greetings Thomas Jefferson Families!
I'm excited to join the team of Patriots at Thomas Jefferson this year as Assistant Principal.  After spending the past 12 years in various positions across Louisa County High School and Middle School, I'm excited to transition to the Elementary level.  In the past, I have taught Mathematics, served on both the High School and Division leadership teams, and coached sports both in the school system and through area youth organizations.  I'm originally a native of a small rural town in Pennsylvania and my high school graduating class consisted of only 75 students!  I received my B.S. in Mathematics Education from Juniata College and my M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from George Mason University.  I come from a blue-collar family and look forward to partnering with the hard-working families of Thomas Jefferson to ensure success for all of our students.  Please don't hesitate to contact me via phone, email ( or by stopping by the school.
Go Patriots
