Hello Patriots!

Looking at the week ahead, we have Fall Picture Day on Tuesday, a Club Day for grades 3-5 on Wednesday and the Hometown Homecoming Parade on Thursday evening in Mineral. Next week brings our Character Dress-up Day on Thursday, Oct. 31st. As a reminder, students cannot wear masks or bring look-alike weapons to school as part of their costume. Additionally, all treats need to be store bought with ingredients listed and will be sent home with students in their backpacks. If you have allergy concerns and would like to pick-up your student's treats instead, please contact your Patriot's teacher.

We want to thank everyone for their kindness during our Coin Drive to support our friends in Grayson County. Through your generosity, TJ will be donating more than $3300 to Independence Elementary in Grayson County. For the next two weeks we will be collecting supplies for the Grayson County Public Schools community, such as cleaning supplies, new youth essential clothing items, canned food, and bottled water. Supplies can be dropped off at our front office.

As you may know, each October, we celebrate #Kindness Month here at Louisa County Public Schools. This month, we are launching a new initiative, Kindness For The Commonwealth, and we will be collecting funds and other donations to support students, staff, and families with Grayson County Public Schools. This school division in southwest Virginia was tremendously impacted by flooding caused by Hurricane Helene and faces days, months, and years of recovery.

As part of this movement, we are hosting several different initiatives:

First, we will be hosting a coin drive at our school from October 7th to October 18th, with all of the proceeds going to support the GCPS community.

Then, from October 21st to October 31st, we will be collecting supplies for the GCPS community, such as cleaning supplies, basic school supplies, canned food, and bottled water. Supplies can be dropped off at our front office. You can find a full list of recommended supplies on our division website, lcps.k12.va.us.

So be sure to bring in your spare change starting October 7th as we support our friends in Grayson County as they recover from Hurricane Helene.
