Greetings, TJES Families:
Earlier today, we were made aware that a TJES student made an inappropriate threat towards another student during a conversation amongst several students on the social media app “Snapchat”. Though this conversation took place outside of school hours, the student indirectly referenced school.
Immediately upon receiving this information, TJES administrators worked with the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office to investigate this post. After a thorough review, the student who made the threat was taken into custody by the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office and is facing immediate and severe disciplinary consequences. This student was not at school today, and no students or staff at our school building were in any danger at any time.
Please know threats that reference our students, school, or staff — whether vague or direct — will not be tolerated. Parents, we also encourage you to take some time to speak with your students. Louisa County Public Schools maintains a zero tolerance for threats of any sort. Whenever we receive information concerning a threat, we immediately provide that information to local law enforcement officers, and those responsible are subject to disciplinary action and, potentially, legal consequences. Safety will always be our top priority.
Should you or your student have any concerns or questions regarding this or any other safety matter, please do not hesitate to contact our TJES administrative team at 540-967-0492.
Thank you for your continued support of Thomas Jefferson Elementary School.
