Hello Patriots!

What an amazing first week of school! I'm so proud of the way our Patriots kicked off the school year. They did a great job returning to our routines and expectations and hitting the ground running towards an awesome school year. We know much of this is due to the support and collaboration of you, our families. Looking at the week ahead our 3rd & 4th Grade Patriots will complete their VDOE Growth Assessments on Monday and Tuesday, 2nd grade will complete their new Dibels reading assessment along with Fact Fluency on Thursday, and 1st grade will complete Dibels and Numeracy screenings on Friday. Also this week we will have our first "Summit Day" of the year. These days will primarily be each Wednesday. On Summit Days our students will be given increased opportunities to develop and display their competency in the 5Cs of Creativity, Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, & Citizenship. These qualities are essential and work hand in hand with our desire to develop all the facets of our Patriots and give them the tools to navigate their Path to Success.

In addition this week, we will complete a VDOE required lock-down drill. The drill will be for grades 1st through 5th.

For those parents that do afternoon pick-up, we have a few updates/reminders to help everyone have a seamless experience:

  • We will be switching on Tuesday to pick-up starting at 3:05 which is our normal time.
  • Once your Patriot is loaded in your vehicle, please put on your right turn signal to let us know you are ready to go and wait to be directed to pull out.
  • If you need to assist your student in buckling, please pull over into the angled spots to your right. This allows the line to keep moving.
  • Please pull forward as far as possible as it allows us to load as many vehicles as possible.
  • Keep your number hang-tag up in your window until your Patriot is loaded.

We appreciate everyone's support during this time and have patient you have been as our newest Patriots adjust to their afternoon routine.

We can't wait for week 2 and are looking forward to seeing each of you on Monday!

Key Reminders:

  • Please call our office before 12:30 with any afternoon transportation changes for your Patriot. This ensures that this information is properly directed to all impacted parties and ensure that your Patriot has a smooth afternoon dismissal.
  • Morning Parent Drop-off is open from 7:45-8:10. We ask that parents dropping students off in the morning, please remain in your vehicle and our staff will unbuckle your Patriot and get them out of the car.
  • After 8:10 students are considered tardy and will need to be walked in through the Main Entrance to be signed in
  • Afternoon Parent Pick-up is normally open from 3:05-3:20. We will open at 2:55 for the first 6 days of school to give our newest Patriots more time to learn the routines. We ask that families not arrive to line-up before 2:00 to avoid traffic backing up into the highway. We again ask that families remain in their car and our staff will load Patriots into your vehicle. If you need to assist your Patriot with buckling, please pull over into the angled parking spots to the right.
  • School breakfast and lunch are free for all students again this year.
  • No outside food(cupcakes, cookies, etc...) can be brought to share with other students for the first few weeks while we confirm student allergy information. All outside food will then need to be store bought and list ingredients to be checked by the nurse for allergy concerns.
  • We will start inviting families in for lunch after the Labor Day holiday to give our Patriots time to learn the lunch routines. Please call the main office to make reservations for lunch with your Patriot after this date.
