TJ Family News 9/12/21Good Afternoon Patriots,
Welcome to this week’s edition of TJ Family News.  This past week we got a chance to celebrate our first #TeamLCPS Kindness Day of the year and it was great to see the unity and the smiles of our Patriots. Looking at the week ahead, we have our first Asynchronous Learning Day of the year on Wednesday.  As a reminder, students do not report to school on Asynchronous Learning Days.  Instead they will have the opportunity to make up incomplete assignments as well as complete a community service project.  The community service project this week is based around Constitution Day.  Students will be bring home a Constitution Day kit on Tuesday to support this project.  In addition our Patriots will have the opportunity to meet two of our local government officials, Garland Nuckols, Mayor of Louisa, and Duane Adams, a member of the Louisa County Board of Supervisors. The meet and greet will take place at 12:00 on Wednesday outside the Louisa Arts Center located at 212 Fredericksburg Ave. in the town of Louisa.  This opportunity is voluntary but we do encourage our Patriots to attend if possible. Please see the letter that was sent home last week for more detailed information.
We do have a few pieces of housekeeping information for you today regarding parent pick-up and drop-off.  First, our morning parent drop-off runs from 7:45 to 8:10.  Parents arriving after 8:10 will need to park in the front parking lot and walk students to the main entrance to be signed in tardy.  Second, in the afternoon, we will be moving our afternoon pick-up time to 3:05, which is our official school dismissal time. This will be the final change in pick-up time. We appreciate your support as we have worked together to make the afternoon pick-up process as efficient and safe as possible.  We do ask that you plan to arrive a few minutes later to ensure that cars do not back up onto Route 33.  As a reminder, parents need to be in the pick-up line no later than 3:20.
Now that baseline assessment has been completed, we are excited to move #FullSteamAhead with a comprehensive plan to address the learning needs of all of our Patriots.  I’m proud of the hard work put in by our staff and you, our families, as we continue our push through these uncertain times to make learning and the magic of elementary school a reality for our Patriots.  As always, thank you for your continued support because as we know, only together, #WeAreTJES!  Have a great Sunday evening and we will see you soon.
